Select one of your prescribed texts from school.

Step 1: Analyse the composition.

• Identify:

● Elements of narrative

○ orientation, complication, series of events, climax, resolution, coda

● Structure

○ linear, non-linear, cyclical

● Form – how do you know?

• Structural techniques – flashbacks, foreshadowing, 

• Summarise content and mood for each paragraph
  
• How does the text start and end?

Step 2: Recreate the composition

How can recreate the text using a different structure while you keep the thematic concerns, plot, characters?

Brainstorm ideas. 

Step 3: Mimic the structure but change the plot, characters, thematic concerns.
