6. How to write a reflection 2

How to write a reflection 2

1. Describe, Explain, or justify the use of specific language or stylistic devices

a.       Include specific examples to support your reflection. What word, image, technique, punctuation worked? Why?

2.       Reflect on what you have learned about writing of other composers

3.       Show that you are aware of the learning process

Aspects of your piece that link to the question’s main ideas + aspects that connect to modC (knowledge/ understanding of writing as a craft)

Body

1. Idea/ feature that links to question and technique used

2. Representation (quote the device used from your piece and explain what you have used it to represent)

3. Response (what is the response you intended for your responder when using the

device? (in terms of ideas related to question and ‘The Craft of Writing’)

4. Evaluate Strengths and Weaknesses (the best writers know editing is a crucial part of the writing

process!)

Conclusion

1. Summarise what you have written in part a (discursive)

2. Summarise what you have written in part b (reflection)

3. Reflect on how mod C has informed your writing process

E.g.

In my discursive piece I have endeavoured to use literary devices of anecdote, intertextuality and historic and literary allusions from Margaret Atwood’s Spotty Handed Villainesses, to explore the influence of emotion and the role of personal and public worlds in our stories.

Through use of these features I have explored pre-modernist and modernist perspectives on ‘The Craft of Writing’.
